The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) put out a notice today that it is seeking parties &#8220;interested in participating in the creation of the aforementioned board.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>What will the committee&#8217;s responsibilities be?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Motorcycle Operator Safety Advisory Board\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s legislative charge is to meet at least quarterly to:<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Recommend training methods to increase safety reduce motorcycle crashes and injuries;<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Recommend training methods to increase program effectiveness;<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Recommend improvements to the program and training;<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Make recommendations on expenditures of fund moneys.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>OK, so who are they looking for?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Two year term positions:<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Two members who represent most vendors;<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 One member who represents retail motorcycle dealers;<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 One member who represents third-party testers;<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 One member who represents instructor training specialists. <\/p>\n<p>One year term positions:<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 One member who represents the motorcycle riding community;<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 One member who represents motorcycle training providers not affiliated with the program;<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 One member who represents law enforcement agencies;<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 One member who represents motorcycle insurance providers.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>OK. If you&#8217;re in the industry there are a lot of options. If you&#8217;re just an everyday Joe it seems to come down to just the person who &#8220;represents the motorcycle riding community.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>So what do you do if you&#8217;re interested?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>If you represent one of entities identified as Advisory Board Members and you are interested in serving on the Advisory Board to meet the legislative charge, please send the following information to Mr. Glenn Davis at<br \/>\nglenn.davis@state.co.us. The first meeting of the Advisory Board will have the first meeting will be scheduled in August of 2013.
