Almont Campground
Being so close, you get noise from the highway, but the sound of the water drowns a lot of it. The campground is a favorite for fishermen and rafters. There are 10 sites, 5 for trailers and 5 tents-only. Each site has a table and fire ring. The campground has vault toilets and water. Because it is close to the river you should expect mosquitos. The nightly camping fee is $10. Campsite #9 is especially nice and is pictured here. The river is just through those trees. |

Almont
Campground, sandwiched between CO 135 and the Gunnison River, is just outside of Almont, to the south.
Almont is on your way between Gunnison and Crested Butte.
